The Sauble Sandpiper Quilters are a very diverse group of Quilters. They come
from all walks of life, possess varying levels of talent and love to encourage
and assist new Quilters. The group provides social, motivational and educational
opportunities for all new members, experienced and novice.
As well, they provide a huge Community Service in the monies they raise each year
with their Quilt Raffles.
The Sauble Sandpipers held their semi-annual quilt draw in conjunction with the
Shoreline Artists Art Exhibition & Art Sale on August 15, 2010. Winner of the
"Simple Scrappy Treasures" quilt was Carol Ewles of Sauble Beach (shown to the
right of the quilt, behind the kneeling Quilter).
This quilt was created using 11 different blocks made from scraps of material
donated by individual quilters. Each set of blocks was then custom quilted.
This beautiful quilt took many hours of work by the Sandpiper Quilters and is
truly a "piece of art".
The 2nd prize of a beautiful "sunflower" wall hanging was won by Matthew Ertel.
Lastly, Peg Travis of Sauble Beach won 2 sets of pillowcases. One set a
Christmas pattern and the second is a novelty pattern. Mrs. Travis is continually
one of the top sellers of quilt tickets and her efforts are much appreciated.
Thanks to all who bought tickets - your support of the Sandpiper Quilters means
so much!
